Circa 1830 An outstanding example of a Celonese sprial design ebony and specimen wood table, inlaid with ebony and ivory stringing .The cabinet makers of Galle used this wonderful design to show the large selection of exotic timbers at thier disposal, including rosewood, satinwood,palm and coromandal.The ebony and Ivory banding is held in place by bands of white metal. The pedestal base and the border of the top finely carved in solid ebony. |
