A very rare wind vane dial in the manner of Whitehurst.

£6,800

A George III period carved mahogany wind vane dial. The silvered engraved dial with all the points of a compass housed in the finely carved mahogany frame, the design of which matches the Whitehurst of derby barometers and would have been made on suite to match.

Sir Nicholas Goodison noted on the one recently sold from his own collection at Christie's [£10,710},  that only his and a hydrometer in the Gurstenfeld collection are the only known examples of this design, until this one!
