A fine painted and gilded bow fronted corner cabinet probably by Henry Clay. The top and doors with Angelica Kauffman style decoration . Henry Clay took out a patent in 1772 for a 'new improved paper ware ' , this involved pasting together a number of sheets of paper and sticking them to the carcase of the piece of furniture which was then dried and decorated. This can be clearly seen on this piece along the top edge at the rear.
